The glove is named Eibenstock because in this town in the Ore Mountains, artistic embroidery has a long tradition. Clara Angermann introduced tambouring (artistic embroidery with crochet hook) in Eibenstock in 1775 and taught this art to many women of the town. This developed into an important economic factor, so that by 1850 there were already six successful embroidery businesses. The embroideries became famous all over the world and from 1891 to 1908 there was even an American consulate in Eibenstock to maintain the lively business relations.
